Briauna Paul

Meet

Mental Health Therapist

Hello, I’m Briauna (or Miss Bri as my students like to call me)! I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminology from Butler University before completing my Master of Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health and Addictions from IUPUI in 2021. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with experience across school-based mental health, residential treatment, inpatient care, and crisis stabilization. I have worked with children and adolescents from preschool through high school, helping young people navigate anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, emotional regulation, executive functioning challenges, self-esteem, family conflict, life transitions, and LGBTQ+ identity and support. I utilize an integrative, trauma-informed approach that incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based interventions, and EMDR to create individualized treatment plans that meet each client where they are.

I have always been drawn to helping children and adolescents discover their strengths and recognize their capacity to overcome life's challenges. Every child has a unique story, and I believe therapy should honor that. There is no "one-size-fits-all" approach to growth and healing, which is why I tailor sessions to each client's personality, interests, learning style, and goals.

One of my favorite parts of being a therapist is building meaningful relationships with the children and families I serve. When we work together, you can expect a collaborative and supportive experience. Trust is the foundation of therapy, and I work hard to create a space where clients feel safe, accepted, and understood. Whether we are talking through difficult emotions, learning new coping skills, or expressing ourselves through creative activities, my goal is for every client to leave feeling a little lighter, more hopeful, and more confident than when they walked in. I especially enjoy incorporating art, crafts, games, and other hands-on activities into sessions, making therapy engaging while helping them build skills in ways that feel natural and fun.

Outside of the office, you'll usually find me with one (or both!) of my black cats, Draco and Luna, curled up in my lap while I read a good book or binge-watch some reality TV show. I also enjoy cooking, baking, trying new coffee shops, exploring local markets, staying active at the gym, and spending time outdoors on long walks listening to a podcast. My partner currently lives in Florida for work, so I happily take any chance to trade Indiana weather for sunshine and beach days whenever I can.
